After gaining invaluable experience working for over eighteen years at all levels from Adviser through to Senior Management within the corporate environment, I set up AFL Financial Planning in 2001. Since then, the business has grown from a small partnership with just two people into one of the largest Financial Advice Firms in Scotland with eleven full time staff.

I have worked in various roles for companies within the financial sector since 1982, having had a previous career as an Agricultural Engineer. I joined AFL in 2001, not long after the business was established and continued that year as an associate. In 2002, I became a partner in the firm, a position I still hold today. I service many areas throughout Dumfries & Galloway and as a result, not only have I gained clients, but I have also made a lot of friends, which makes it all worthwhile.
I joined AFL Financial Planning Services as a financial adviser in January 2003, after spending ten years working for Prudential. I offer financial advice and recommendations, which can take place in your home, at your workplace, or our office in Nith Place, Dumfries.
I have recently been accredited as an "At Retirement" specialist, which means I can help you to navigate your way through the new Pension Freedoms, which came into effect in April 2015.
I have been working in the financial sector since 1992 and joined AFL Financial Planning Services as a Financial Adviser in March 2008. They have given me the opportunity to do what I like best, which is going to see clients in their homes and presenting tailor made solutions to suit their financial needs.
I have a keen interest in music and in the past have made records and performed all over the country with my band VHF and still perform on occasion mainly at charity events and at the odd festival.
I joined the Financial Services industry back in 1990 and have worked as an adviser since then. Having worked at AFL Financial Planning Services for several years now, I have seen it grow into the sizeable firm it is today. I pride myself in the fact that I and the business set out to give full and impartial advice to all our clients, many of whom I have had an association with for over 20 years.
I have worked in financial services for over 23 years, working in a wide range of different areas of financial planning and management. This gives me a great deal of experience to be able to help my clients achieve their financial goals. My goal is to be able to provide excellent customer service and to do the right things financially for my clients and their families and I believe that AFL Financial Planning Services echos that sentiment.
I joined AFL Financial Planning Services in January 2006, having previously achieved success as a financial adviser with Royal London and CIS. At AFL, I enjoy working for a dedicated team, whose philosophy is to put clients at the forefront of its work ethic. The challenges of building up a substantial client base and achieving Diploma status while at AFL have given me immense job satisfaction.
In recent years, it has become apparent that my strength lies in the quality of my work in relation to product researching, creating financial reports and compliance issues. With this in mind, I took on the role of Paraplanner in November 2013 I am now behind the scenes, providing the vital link between my team of advisers and the needs of their clients.
Having worked in financial services since leaving school in 1984, I joined AFL Financial Planning in 2003 as their mortgage adviser. I enjoy being able to provide impartial advice to our clients, especially when people are looking to buy their new home.
I have worked for AFL since October 2002, having previously worked for both partners at a large insurance firm. My role as office manager has varied over the years and now that I am part time, my main duties include payroll and banking.
I joined the family business in 2003 straight from leaving school starting in an administrative role. I currently work in a Sales Support role working closely with our Financial Advisers and Paraplanners. During this time, I have gained qualifications in financial administration and I am continuing to develop my knowledge and enhance my skills.
I joined AFL Financial Planning Services in 2008 as an Account Manager, to support both Partners and Advisers on a technical and administrative level. One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is speaking to clients and I have built a great rapport with them over the years.
I look after all our marketing such as social media and advertising. I really enjoy doing this as I get to engage with our customers through different channels.
I commenced my studies towards becoming a Financial Adviser in early 2015 and I was delighted to have gained my level 4 diploma in Financial Advice in early March 2016. I started in my new role as an adviser in September 2016
I joined AFL Financial Planning Services in August 2016 after gaining an “A” grade at Higher National Diploma level in Business Management at Dumfries and Galloway College. I am currently Sales Support within the AFL office and I have commenced my studies towards becoming a Qualified Financial Advisor in early October 2016 and I passed my first exam in Feb 2017
